How many thoughts does the average person think in a day?
My google search found that a person has about 60,000 thoughts in a day. This research also indicates that 75% of our thoughts are negative and 95% are repetitive. WOW….
According to this research, we continuously recycle negative thoughts. No wonder the world is in the shape it’s in. The negative and repetitive conditioning of our mind is bound to impact our mental and physical wellbeing—and not for the good.
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 says this, “We use ourpowerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools areready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity.” The Message Bible Version
It is possible for our thoughts to be shaped and molded by the ways of Christ. Controlling what we see, what we read, and what we hear will alter the messages we receive and subsequently the thoughts that enter into our minds.
While we will never be able to eliminate negative thoughts, we can increase the positive thoughts. We can ask God’s help us to reshape our existing thoughts and strengthen us to change our habits.
Here are a few tools we can use to shape our thoughts and increase our positive thought patterns:
- Spend more time in prayer
- Give God praise and honor
- Read, memorize, and meditate on scripture
- Verbally express gratefulness to God for His blessings
Become more aware of your thoughts. Make a decision to think God-thoughts. Establish a lifestyle that rejects negativism.
