January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month

This year, we will make it a priority to take care of our mind, body, and spirit!

We will be empowered with knowledge, because knowledge is power, to ensure we are doing everything in our ability to flourish in all aspects of our lives…

Cervical cancer is a gynecological disease seen in women; and it has become the 6th most common cancer affecting women.

It develops in a women’s cervix; and studies have shown it’s associated to infection with high risk human papillomavirus (HPV).

HPV is a well-known virus that may be transmitted through sexual contact; and continuous infection has been shown to increase a women’s risk of cervical cancer.

Although cervical cancer has been known to be one of the most successfully treatable forms of cancer, early detection is crucial.

Most women are advised to start cervical screening at age 30 with routine screening as directed by your medical provider.

Tip: Now that you have the knowledge, you have the power!
