A Perfect Image...

An Imperfect Choice

· Food For Thought

Void, without form, and dark….Earth's existence in the beginning. From those elements, God created the land and sky filling it with inhabitable creatures.

Then, God created man in His own image and likeness.

Genesis 1: 27-28 declares,

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

The man and his wife were perfectly designed to be in communion with God. With God’s blessings they were instructed to be fruitful, to reciprocate His likeness, and have dominion.

Likewise, they were intended to obey God by aligning themselves with His standards—not as robots, but willing participants—PERFECT!

The lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, the pride of life—soon turned perfection over to the imperfect. Desiring the forbidden; appealing to selfish tendencies; and the attempt to place themselves in unintended positions—were all ingredients for disaster.

Fueled by the insinuations of a con artist, that element of perfection vanished away upon collision with man’s oxymoronic choice to be like God.

A quick turn away from God’s plan, imperfection seeped in flooding and overtaking the once perfect image—now doomed to faults and failures—causing dissention and separating them from a perfect God.

The plight is inherent. So, how do we manage imperfection and lean toward the perfect?
