It reminds me of a Temptation’s love song from the sixties—“Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”.
Today’s lesson is not about the love of a man towards of a woman, but of a mother for her child. She wasn’t one of them. She wasn’t invited to the party. This stranger begged for the healing of her daughter.
Matthew 15:24 says this, And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.”
There 's no love like a mother’s love. No doubt she had experienced the agony of her daughter’s torment. No doubt she prayed and cried, prayed and cried, prayed and cried for her daughter’s healing to no avail. Then, she heard Jesus was coming by.
Today’s example teaches us to step outside of our comfort zone on behalf of those we love. This woman took her request to the right person. Jesus is the ultimate Healer.
Some may have said she didn’t deserve it, but she stood flat footed in the face of the only one who could deliver on a request for deliverance. Jesus did it!
