Loneliness is an emotional response to feelings of isolation or the lack of companionship. Strong, swift, and unpredictable, like undercurrents of the might Mississippi, loneliness has the capacity to shift your thinking and redirect your focus. Creating a void longing to be filled, loneliness has delivered regrettable outcomes and fostered unwise decision making. Left unattended, loneliness will lead you towards the wrong people and guide you to make poor choices.
Loneliness is not an opportunity to fill your life with people. It is a reminder to fill your life with more of God's purpose. You are more that what you feel because the Lord is your strength! You must guard your heart and learn how to wait on Him. God has a great plan for you— He is able to accomplish in you more than you can ask or think.
When you are feeling lonely, know that God understands exactly where you are, and exactly what you are feeling at that moment in time. Seek His perspective and direction through prayer and meditation.
It's important that you don't allow yourself to become idle. The devil's tactics are always in full effect during your weakest moments. His aim is to tempt you to give in by glorifying inappropriate desires with justification. So, make yourself useful. Determine what your gifts and talents are and use them to encourage and support others. Discover your hobbies and interests and get busy enjoying them with like-minded people. Get to know yourself—become comfortable in your own skin.
Being alone, does not have to mean lonely. God has already given you the power to conquer loneliness and walk in your greatest potential. Start by making good use of your alone time.
