Goggle defines next as a time or season coming immediately after the present.
For the sake of this year’s AWOGI theme, God’s Plan for ME in 2023 we are encouraging you to acknowledge the now, accept the new and anticipate the next.
So, what’s next? Many have declared 2023 to be the year of “ME”. The “ME” in 2023 focus was a bit scary for me at first, but it didn’t take long for that message to become clear. In my mind, there is no “ME” without God.
This thought brings me to the book of wisdom—Proverbs:
- 19:21: There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand.
- 16:19: A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.
Those are two excellent verses that provide insight on our “ME” plans. It doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t make plans—it means our plans should be directed by God.
Here is another verse that dispells the "ME" in 2023 mindset:
- 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
Let’s not get the “ME” in 2023 twisted. Truth is, it’s less about “ME” and more about God.
As for what’s next—let's start with trusting God for the next door, situation, and opportunity.
Challenge: When it comes to what’s next allow God to open the doorway to a wonderful future:
- Put God first
- Take your thoughts, dreams, and plans to God in prayer
- Be willing to put yourself in the back seat
Anticipate the NEXT. Don't leave God out.
