April Showers

Surely you've heard the saying…April showers bring May flowers.

In Louisiana April is known for rain. But then so is May—August—and September.

I remember a song from the 70s entitled, “I Can’t Stand The Rain”. For whatever memories the rain might conjour up the sentiment holds true for most.

Personally, I have a love—hate relationship with rain. I love it as long as I don’t have to drive in it or it doesn’t get in the way of my outdoor plans.

However we feel about rain, we can all agree on its benefits and the fact that its absence produces dryness, drought, and in some cases death.

Matthew 5:45 reminds us of this, “…for He (God) makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”

Rain is an act of nature—we all experience it.  Rain is purpose-filled. The immediate inconvenience lends way to future benefits.

Whatever downpour you are currently experiencing is part of God’s plan to produce future flowers. Allow this to be a time of cleansing, purification, and the washing away of the unnecessary.

Remember that God is the source from whom all blessings flow. Look to Him to turn the drops of devastation into blooms of blessings.
