AWOGI: Origination

Conference Ready

March 11, 2021

The wife of a Baptist minister (Rev. Wilfred Michael Bolden) and PK (Pastor’s Kid) who grew up in the church, I am first and foremost a born again Christian. My husband is the love of my life and God's answer to my prayers. We have been married for over 37 years and are the proud parents of four young adults (two of whom are married), as well as new grandparents to four handsome baby boys.

Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana my husband and I currently, work, and minister in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans area.

My A Woman of Godly Influence (AWOGI) journey began in 2009. The AWOGI concept originated from my personal sin (not doing things God's way) and conviction (feelings of guilt) in regards to my influence (or lack there of) on the lives of those around me. My sin and conviction was followed by my repentance and request for God's forgiveness.

This experience led me to take a closer look at women in the Bible in an attempt to gain insight and practical tips to move forward in becoming AWOGI.

Likewise, my sin—conviction—forgiveness—repentance process has also created a sincere desire to become an investor in the lives of others.

Because of, due to, and in spite of my sin—to—repentance experiences (past, present, and future), God inspired me to embrace vulnerability by inviting other women along for this ride—my journey to be better and do better.

Reluctantly at first, I invited a few ladies to join be on this journey in July of 2010. Together, we began to study women in the Bible by examining their lives, relationships, actions, and attitudes in an effort to learn from the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Through the stories of women like Rahab, Ruth, Eve, and Esther God has exposed destructive behaviors and mindsets; imparted strategies that help us to establish a foundation for righteous living; and challenged us to embrace current circumstances by allowing them to strengthen our hearts and build our character.

I do not claim to be a Preacher or Bible Scholar. I definitely don't consider myself to be perfect and yes, I am still traveling this sin—to—repentance journey. But I am armed with a personal desire to be better; a will to walk in God’s plan; and a yearning to live according to His purpose. Like wise, I want to encourage other women to do the same.

I HAVE NOT ARRIVED! I do falter and make mistakes, but press forward on this journey. My commitment to becoming A Woman of Godly Influence continues to be a walk of faith that requires complete obedience.

Thank you for taking the ride!
