Predestined, Bethlehem was the place where the Savior was born. Though Jesus' family did not live in Bethlehem, life would have it that both Joseph and Mary traveled to the city to pay taxes. Jesus was born during the trip.
The Prophecy: Micah 5:2
But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
The Prophecy Fulfilled: Matthew 2:5-6
And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, art not the least among the princes of Judah: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
- Bethlehem is the birth place of Jesus Christ
- Bethlehem means “House of Bread”
- Jesus is the “Bread of Life” (John 6:35)
Bread is our sustenance. Many of us partake of bread on a daily basis. In our prayer we ask God to "give us this day our daily bread". It is no coincidence that the Bread of Life was born in the House of Bread.
God's plan for us is always well thought out and aligned with his unique purpose. Embrace the changes and allow the little pieces of God's best to unfold.
