Bless "ME" Indeed

· ME Month,Food For Thought

September is “ME” month. While that might sound a bit selfish, I encourage you to do your best to take care of you, first.

No one can take care of you, better than YOU. And if you don’t take care of yourself, you won’t be able to take care of anyone else.

In mind, there is no other scripture that has a “ME” mentality more that the prayer of Jabez.

1 Chronicles 4:9-10 reminds us of this, Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.

Bless Me…. Enlarge My….. Keep Me…. Your Hand Be With Me….

At first glance, some might consider Jabez’s request as selfish—I don’t. Jebez was experiencing a “ME” month. He recognized his shortcomings and asked God for help. God didn’t see Jebez’s pray as selfish. God saw that Jabez was an honorable man. God granted his request.

For me, the Jebez prayer describes what our “ME” month is all about. Take time to acknowledge your strengths and your weaknesses and ask God to help you to properly manage both that you might be a blessing to others and not a curse.

September is “ME” month.

Take a good, long look at who you are, what you’ve accomplished, and any areas that seems to be lacking. Know that God has the power to shape and mold you into the person of His choosing. Honor God with a pure heart.

Take your seemingly selfish intents to God and leave them there.

Dear Lord, Bless ME indeed.
