Blessed to be a Blessing

July 7, 2023

Fridays are FABULOUS... and so are God's Blessings

Every Christian is blessed and should maximize their opportunity of being a blessing to others. The blessings of God may be physical, emotional, spiritual, material, and financial.

In Genesis 12:2-3, the Lord told Abraham to depart from his country and kinsmen, and his father’s house to the land where He would show him. God told Abraham that He would make him into a great nation and would bless him, and make his name great so that he would be a blessing. Malachi 3:6 reminds us that our God is the same yesterday, today and forevermore.

Just as God’s word was expedient for our spiritual forefather long ago, accordingly it is ever so relevant for us today. For it is the Lord our God who works in us, both to will and to work for his good pleasure (Phil 2:13).

Being a blessing may include the following: smiling; saying a kind word; demonstrating acts of kindness; sharing scripture through texting, writing or calling; praying for others or with them; writing a note, treating someone; or visiting someone in need. Phil 2:3-4 ESV declares, “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Blessed to be a blessing… it’s really the grace of God that works through us. Ephesians 3:20 states, “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,” encourages us that every born-again believer has the power of the Holy Spirit to be a blessing.

TIPS to the Blessing

  1. The Lord blesses us to be a blessing to others
  2. We feel better when we bless others
  3. Being a blessing has a boomerang effect
