Can God Trust Me With Time?

June 29, 2023

Today's post is a personal one....

God created everything—including time. Until my live expires, I'm given 24 hours in each day, no more and no less. That's one thing I have in common with every other living being on earth.

Secondly, everything belongs to God—including me. Since God created time and I belong to God, how I spend my time matters to God.

These thoughts remind me of Psalms 24:1-2, "The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the waters."

Like it or not, I will be judged according to how I handled the things God has commended to my hands. My family, my friends, my work, my gifts, my talents, and my time—I will be held accountable and must give an account for all these things.

A few weeks ago, the question came to me, “Can God trust me with time?” (I hate when questions like that come to mind...) The question led me down a winding path. Do I waste time or do I spend it wisely? Do I make the best use of my time or do I take it for granted. While I would love to answer with the obvious, “YES” God can trust me with time and “YES” I use my time wisely, the answers is often a resounding “NO”.

Honestly, I often forget the real truth about timetime is important, time is of the essence, time is crucial. Time is so precious that once it has been wasted, I can never get it back.

Personal reflection leads to improvement opportunities. The fact that I’m cognoscente of my shortcomings and willing to admit failure is the first step towards becoming a better me and trustworthy before God.

The earth is the Lord’s and all its fullness…that includes God’s time.

My Prayer: God help me to be a more trustworthy servant of Your time.
