Dance to the Music

Eve's Consequence ...My Consequence

· Food For Thought

Back in the day, there was a song that went something like this, “If you dance to the music…you gotta pay to the piper.” Simply stated, the lyrics remind us that every decision has a consequence.

Things changed drastically after Adam and Eve had eaten the fruit. Their relationship with each other, their relationship with God, and soon life as they had known it, would never be the same.

And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” Genesis 3:13

Eve admitted to being deceived by the serpent and she admitted to eating the fruit, recognizing that she had disobeyed God's command. There is a name for it... SIN.

As with every other decision, consequence is sure to follow. Now, separated from God, the two were also banned from the Garden of Eden. What a difference a day makes.

So, can we recover from unwise decisions of disobedience that result in separation and devastation? Yes, even when life altering consequences have been experienced, recovery is still possible. And our relationship with God can be restored.

The starting point towards recovery begins with a different perspective. We must Admit It; Quit It; and Forget It. God's plan for sin's restoration is called SALVATION! It's as easy as ABC.

Challenge:

  • Be honest with yourself about unwise decisions that you have made
  • Turn away from actions and attitudes that do not depict a Godly perspective
  • Forget about the past and dance to the beat of a different drum
