Everything that glitters is not gold. Let's learn lessons from Delilah's story.

Placing our affections in the hands of the enemy is a dangerous game. That’s what happened to Samson. Truth is, Samson had a knack for falling in love too quickly with women—the wrong women. Delilah would be his final match.

Judges chapter 16 is a snapshot of Samson’s experience with Delilah, “Afterward it happened that he loved a woman in the Valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah."

The Bible doesn’t say much about what Delilah looked like, but if I had to guess, I'd bet she was an alluring and voluptous beauty. If we're honest, sometimes we connect ourselves to people for the wrong reasons.

Delilah was a vehicle of suduction who appealed to Samson's weakness.

We must be careful not to play on the weaknesses of others. God always knows the intentions of our hearts. Such evil deeds will always come at a cost and this devilish game won't go unpunished.

Thankfully, scripture provides guidelines and insight on living a successful life that honors God. Sometimes we get too hung up on what we don’t know and fail to follow what we do know.

Let's be consistent with setting standards for our daily habits and relationships. Consistent prayer asking God’s guidance regarding both is in always in order.

On the other hand, all of us have weaknesses. If we're not careful our weakness will be our downfall. While this lessons is specific to relationships, any actions that don’t align with God’s perspective has the capability to lead us astray—including lust, envy, money, power, and greed (just to name a few).

Let's be honest with God and with ourselves regarding our personal weaknesses. God knows exactly where we are and He is the one who can strengthen us to do His will.
