Discipline

· Go for the Gold

Would you say that you are a well-disciplined person?

Over the past month, consider how you've spent your money and handled relationships.  Consider the state of your current emotions and how you've talked to people who may have wronged you.

Would you say that you've demonstrated restraint when and where it was needed and followed guidelines as prescribed?

I’m pretty sure that in one area or another, every one of us can benefit from being a little more discipline.

In addition to other Godly principles, the Bible encourages us to add discipline (self-control) to our lives.

2 Peter 1:3-8 provides insight to these beneficial qualities,“add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Discipline yields fruit. An athlete who lacks discipline won't receive a winner’s reward.

Discipline requires sacrifice. An athlete who refuses to give us things that hinder their performance won't   recieve a metal.

Discipline sets goals and plans for the future. An athlete who fails to plan, plans to fail.

Likewise, our unwillingness to take an honest look at our current condition, establish a plan for improvement and work diligently to carry out those plans will result in unfavorable consequences.

Discipline is a key to success.

Go For the Gold.

Exercise self-control.
