For years, I’ve heard people use the phrase “Fake It, Till You Make It.” And for years, that phrase has puzzled me.
My interpretation—pretend to be something your're not, while working on and planning to walk into the realization of that figure in the future.
I guess it’s the word “fake” that gives me hesitation. Google defines fake as counterfeit, not genuine or forgery. So, while that might work for some of you in the business, profession or educational world—it's not for me.
And please don't even think of trying to pass that mindset off into the spiritual realm. Because when it comes to your relationship with God and your walk in this life—that’s real! You can’t fake that. You might be able to fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool God no time.
Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”.
FAITH can't be faked! You either have it or you don’t. But even a small amount of faith can grow to become quite substantial, when we use it.
For those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior by faith, we've already laid a foundation upon which to build that trust in God. As we read the Bible, pray and seek God’s face, that same amount of faith will increase—because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
So, instead of faking it, "FAITH" It, Til You Make It!
Challenge:
- Develop a plan to read the Bible daily
- Choose one scripture a day to meditate on throughout the day
- Regularly attend congregational worship (Church and Bible Study) where the proclamation of God's Word is taught and preached
