Be Wise. Walk in Faith...Not Fear!
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a pandemic disease that is currently prevalent throughout most of the world. The disease originated from the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2019). Although the disease originated more than 7000 miles from the United States in China, its range has grasped six of seven continents having no respect of persons.
As the disease has reportedly affected many states throughout our country with new cases emerging and the death rate increasing daily, fear appears to be settling in the hearts of men while faith in the Lord is eroding.
Here are a few TIPS to increase your faith and conquer your fear:
• COVID-19 symptoms are similar to the flu: fever, dry coughs, shortness of breath, sore throat, fatigue, etc.
• The timeframe of incubation is 1 – 14 days, so stay away from those who are sick with colds or flu.
• Most importantly is handwashing. Frequent handwashing (vigorous) with soap and water for approximately 20 seconds is critical. Avoid touching your face (eyes, nose or mouth). If you don’t have soap/water use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
• Sanitize door handles, countertops, cell phones, and other inanimate objects often.
• If you exhibit symptoms or have been in close contact with someone with symptoms or who has the disease, self-quarantine and notify your primary care provider immediately.
• If you cough or sneeze, use a napkin or tissue and discard it in the trashcan. Don’t use your arm because the virus may stay on the surface from 5 – 7 days.
Although our society has been impacted by the disease, such as social isolation (quarantining); an unpredictable economy; travel bans and closures of many businesses and schools, we must exercise a deeper faith in God! Just know, our God is the Lord and He hasn’t brought us this far to leave us…
