Family Reunion

Pray Together...Stay Together

· Food For Thought

Summers are a favorite time for family reunions.

Ultimately, reunions are designed to bring everyone together. Sharing family traditions, meeting the new folks—babies, husbands and wives, and honoring our elders, family reunions allows us to remember and cherish our legacy.

But in the midst of this physical distancing dilemma, traveling to grandma’s might not be in the best interest of everyone.

That doesn’t mean we have to put off checking in on your great-aunt and third cousins. Be creative. Explore a new means of connecting with your loved ones. Make a memory and experience the joy of family.

Many of us have become increasingly more familiar with the utilization of on-line meeting applications. Use one of those to get together and share those happy times. We might not be able to hug, but we can still say "I Love You."

Don’t forget about prayer. Prayer is not limited by physical contact. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 reminds us, Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Physical distance doesn't mean social distance. Stay connected to your family on-line, on the phone, and on your knees.

Challenge:

  • Find a new way to encourage your family
  • Call your aunts and uncles to say hello
  • Teach your grandparents to utilize a meeting app
  • Schedule an on-line prayer meeting
