Glass Half Full or Half Empty?

The Story I Tell Myself: My glass is half full…

Often used as a litmus test to measure a person’s view, your answer to this question can generally be used to tell if you are an optimist or a pessimist.

Google defines an optimist as a person who tends to be hopeful and confident about the future and a pessimist as a person who tends to see the worst aspect of things or believe the worst will happen.

As for the woman with the issue of blood, this is the story she told herself...

For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” Matthew 9:21

...she was confident she’d receive her healing with the slightest touch of Jesus’ robe and her actions propelled her to move towards the source that would deliver on her request. That’s more than optimism, that’s faith in action!

But her faith was not in a simple act of the universe. Her faith was in the power of The Almighty God. She believed God had ultimate control and authority. She trusted that Jesus Christ had the power to heal. She was right.

The same holds true today. So, while my glass is half full, my optimism is not based on happenstance or the universe. It’s based on what I believe about God.

The Story I Tell Myself

  • I believe God always has my best interest in mind
  • I believe God always answers my prayer, but sometimes “YES” is not always best
  • I belive God loves me so much that He sent His only son (Jesus Christ) to die for my sins

My glass is half full.
