Hell is too Hot and Eternity is too Long

These 100 degree temperatures got me to thinking—Hell is not for me!

It’s Hell Week: Beat the Heat

Hell is too hot and eternity is too long.

It’s been a long, hot summer. Meteorologists say we're experiencing the hottest summer on record. If you think this summer is long and hot it pales in comparison to hell.

Surely you've heard the saying, "there are only two things we can count on—death and taxes". We don't like to talk about it, but death is a part of life. Regardless of our income, ethnicity, or level of education our lives will one day come to an end. Though there are differences in opinion, most people believe there is an afterlife. I believe the Bible's account of heaven and hell.

Luke 16: 22-31 is an account of a biblical parable about two men who died; a rich man who went to hell and a poor man (beggar) who went to heaven. Here is a portion of the story:

And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; and in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame....

Then he (the rich man) said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

Seasons change—summer soon lends itself to fall. For now, our discomfort is minor and temporary. With no respect of persons, hell is torment forever.

Hell is not for me! Hell is an eternal fire. Hell is too hot and eternity is too long.

Beat the Heat and Hell’s Fury. Only believe....
