I Never Knew You

· Food For Thought

Do you really know God? Does He really know you?

Biblical utilization of the word know (or any form there of) indicates a personal and intimate relationship. Many people have a “name-basis-only” recollection of who God is. Simply calling on the name of the Lord doesn’t necessarily signify an intimate or personal relationship.

Matthew 7:21-23 says this, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

I must admit, reading this scripture makes me cringe.

Going to church, singing in the choir, serving on the usher board, teaching Sunday School or even preaching on the pulpit doesn’t guarantee a place in heaven.

Knowing God is based on a continuous “everyday relationship” with Him. Seeking God everyday; talking to God everyday; obeying God everyday; and following God everyday.

God knowing you is based on a life that is committed to serving Him.

Don’t let God say, “I NEVER Knew You!” Make sure God knows you—by getting to know Him.
