God saved the best for last. From the beginning, the Bible declares that God created man in His image.
Details of the Creation record how God specifically and carefully created the heavens and the earth; the land and the seas; the moutains and the trees; creatures and herb bearing fruit. Then, He placed man in the midst of everything He had created with authority.
Genesis 1:26 – 28 “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion… So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion…”
Notice the number of times image is recorded in these few verses. Man was created like God so that he might be like God and commune with God. Character, likeness, intellectual capability—all designed for mission and purpose.
God’s spiritual and loving nature produced a similar being designed to be spiritual and produce love likewise. Created to honor God through the replication of His goodness and light, man’s objective is to reflect God’s character and produce the same.
Man was not like the other created things, he was like God, given responsibility and authority.
As you consider your purpose know that God was careful and specific. He placed you in the perfect environment—location, family and time period—to make the most of your life. He has a plan that is beyond your existence—all because you were created In His Image.
