Google defines influence as the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone”
Eve definitely had an effect on Adam’s character and behavior.
Genesis3:6-7 records this, “So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.”
Eve’s decision to eat the forbidden fruit changed their lives forever. I’m not sure how she did it, she gave the fruit to him and he ate it.
The couple’s choice to eat the forbidden fruit resulted in consequences that affected their current existence and that of future mankind.
We all have a certain amount of influence in the lives of those around us. Every day, our actions make an impression on someone else.
Growing up, my father used to always say, “people are always gonna talk about you because talking is what people do. Make sure that what they say is based on your positive actions.”
Influence is as influence does. Eve’s life is our example and her actions should influence us. Seeing the consequences of their decision to eat the forbidden fruit should encourage us follow God more consistently.
