Is God Still Relevant?

May 25, 2021

Have you ever experienced famine, relocation, and death all at the same time?

The story of Naomi and her family are similar to this. Her family evacuated (sounds familiar to me) their city in a time of famine. Then, her husband died. Then, both of her sons died. Though the Bible doesn't a provide specific timeline on when these events actually took place, the Bible does record that the course of these events left her embittered.

When Naomi finally returned home, I bet she was happy to see her people and they were happy to see her.  When they called out to her she responded by saying, “Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me. I went out full, and the Lord has brought me home again empty.” Ruth 1:20-21

Naomi is not halone. At some point in time each of us experiences dreadful situations, circumstances, and heart beaking life events. Sometimes those events leave us wondering where God is; if He still cares and if He is still near..

In my search of a definition for the word relevant, Google.com says this… relevant is defined as closely connected or appropriate to what is being done or considered.

So, in light of your current circumstance, is God still closely connected to you? Is the Almighty God still appropriate to what is being done in or considered for your situation?

Each of us must answer that question for ourselves.

But remember this, the Bible delares that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  He is still in the same position.  Though we might be guilty of shifting places, God is still in the same place and He is still RELEVANT?
