It's Pearl Time

Clutch Them Pearls

· Food For Thought

You remember how a pearl is formed….

According to pearls.com, “Natural Pearls form when an irritant - usually a parasite and not the proverbial grain of sand - works its way into an oyster, mussel, or clam. As a defense mechanism, a fluid is used to coat the irritant. Layer upon layer of this coating, called 'nacre', is deposited until a lustrous pearl is formed.”

Well, it’s Pearl Time!

Time is a very precious commodity. Everyone has the same amount and none of us can create more of it. So, what we do with it and how we spend it is crucial. Even when our day is filled with irritants, we must be careful with the time and energy we exert while handling them.

Take the oyster for instance. It’s mechanism for handling an irritant is to secrete an unusual fluid. Over the course of time layer upon layer of that fluid produces something valuable.

So, what's your mechanism for handling irritants? Irritating people, financial hardship, illness, disappointment, loneliness or failure—how do you handle them?

Truth is, God doesn't always remove irritants. As a matter of fact, He often allows their existence for our good. Like the oyster and the grain of sand, the irritant is designed to develop pearls.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us of this, He has made everything beautiful in its time.
