Jumping to Conclusions

Managing Discord

· Food For Thought

Have you ever had a conversation with someone, and you were quick to judge? Whether your decision was based on facts, emotions or fiction, you came to a certain conclusion and may have felt compelled to share your opinion and get your point across…

At some part in everyone’s life, either during childhood or adulthood, one may have heard of the old saying “never jump to conclusions.” Reflecting on life experiences I’ve come to learn that one’s attitude shapes their action. What’s your attitude and does your action conclude with the word of God?

As for me, my attitude is influenced by Rom 8:28 “and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose”.

Again, I have concluded that the word of God according to Psalm 37:25 is true which states “I was once young and now I’m old, yet I’ve never seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”

When things aren’t going well and my family or friends have turned their backs on me, I’m quick to jump to the conclusion “Jesus will never leave me nor forsake me.” Even though we are born as sinners, the conclusion is “we are saved by the Grace of God through our faith, and it is not of ourselves, but it is God’s gift to us” (Eph 2:8).

My sisters, if you are experiencing hurt, pain, fear, anger, and/or challenges during these uncertain times and you don’t know which way to turn, I make the appeal that you quickly jump to this conclusion “with God, nothing shall be impossible” (Matt 19:26), and be compelled to share with others.

Challenge: TIPS to remember during these uncertain times:

  1. Look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Heb 12:2)
  2. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but God’s word will not pass away (Matt 24:35)
  3. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forevermore (Heb 13:8)
  4. Let every decision and/or opinion be concluded with the Word of God.
