Merry Christmas

AWOGI Worships the King

December 24, 2019

"Where is He that is born King of the Jews? We saw His star in the east, and have come to worship Him." Matthew 2:2

Enjoy the spirit this season brings, but don't forget about JESUS!

How do you feel when you see the greeting, Merry Xmas? I will admit it....seeing the phrase makes me feel a bit disheartening. Some people use the term "Xmas" as an abbreviation for Christmas. Others say the term is an attempt to materialize the holiday and remove reference to Christ the Savior.

Historically, the birth of a king was never an ordinary event. Likewise, God made sure the birth of Christ would never compare to any other. As if the Immaculate Conception wasn't enough, angels announced the birth of Jesus Christ and a bright, shining star appeared to mark the place where the baby was born. Shepherds and wise men recognized the enormity of this prophetic event traveling many miles to worship the King.

Google defines worship as the expression of reverence, adoration, and honor. As King of the Jews, Jesus Christ is God's gift and loving response to a world in need of salvation. More than two thousand years later we still celebrate the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Christ our Savior. As His followers, our worship should be as big as God's gift.

Christmas has eternal significance. Celebrating this Holy holiday should be intentional. Our observance of the birth of Christ deserves extra effort, extra reminders, extra emphasis, and yes...WORSHIP!

So, let's go out of our way to remember the significance this day brings and worship Jesus Christ every day of the year. For starters, be sure to go the extra mile to pen the words, Merry Christmas and remind others to do the same.

Keep Christ in Your Christmas!
