New Wife...

New Life

January 25, 2024

Abigail's actions may have saved her husband from the hand of David, but she couldn’t save him from the hand of God.

The next day, Abigail told Nabel what had happened. Scripture says, “When he heard these things, his heart died within him.” 10 days later Nabel was dead.

1 Samuel 25:39 records David's response and Abigail's fate, So when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Blessed be the Lord, who has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and has kept His servant from evil! For the Lord has returned the wickedness of Nabal on his own head.” And David sent and proposed to Abigail, to take her as his wife.

David recognized Abigail to be a wise woman who feared God. Once he heard Nabel was dead, he wasted no time asking for her hand in marriage.

Trusting God by faith, Abigail believed David was a noble man and accepted his proposal—a new wife with a new life.

Regardless of what we think and how we feel, God knows all, sees all, and honors faithfulness. Abigail was a woman of good understanding. Her actions honored God and God honored her efforts.

Abigail: Her Life is My Example

Give it over to God and trust Him with the results.

From Abigail I'm reminded to seek God’s strength; study God’s word; walk in God's ways; and allow God to be God.

While it's important to pray for others, we can't manage nor be responsible for their actions.

Unpleasant circumstance will arise. Through it all we must look to God for direction, follow His instruction, and leave the rest to Him.
