When I was a little girl, my mother often played a song by the great songstress Pastor Shirley Ceasar, entitled “No Charge.” This song, by far was played by mother for her children to remind us that there was no charge for the love she gave to us.

As I reflect on the lyrics of that song, it reminds me to think about the cost of Salvation in Christ Jesus. There is “no charge” for our Salvation. Our Lord and Savior paid a pricey debt for our sins and assigned us “no charge” for salvation.

Behold, we were shapen in iniquity; and in sin did our mothers conceive us (Psalm 51:5). It is this sin, hitherto that was transferred and imposed on us thousands of years ago when Adam and Eve chose to disobey God.

The penalty, therefore “For the wages of sin are death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23).” According to Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are we saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.

In society, there are few places to go, or things to do where we can experience “no charge.” All that we are as Christians and hope to be, we greatly rejoice in that there is “no charge for Salvation.” David in Psalm declared, “Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation (Psalm 62:1).” Blessed by the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation (Psalm 68:19).

Our Heavenly Father who is faithful and righteous, loves us so much that he delivered us at “no charge” by sacrificing His Son for us to have eternal life with Him. Daily we celebrate “no charge for salvation.” Albeit “no charge” for us, for our Savior Jesus the Christ, it cost his life…

TIPS to remember

  1. Salvation is free through Christ Jesus
  2. Except Jesus as your Lord and Savior today, don’t delay
  3. Share your testimony of your Salvation
