Diary of a "Well" Woman

· Food For Thought

Dear Diary,

Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. So, at first it was hard to believe this stranger was even passing through our town, let alone talking to me. But I’m so glad He came. He is the Messiah! My encounter with Jesus Christ has changed my life forever.

For grocery items, labels work quite well but when it comes to people, it's not that simple. People are often labeled based on differences, inappropriate perceptions, the actions of family members or outright lies.

In the case of the “Well Woman,” her people (Samaritans) were looked down upon by the Jews. Though both were heirs to the promise, there were differences in worship and religious practices. In Jewish eyes Samaritans were labeled as half-breeds and avoided at all cost.

In John Chapter 4, Jesus expressed the need to go through Samaria.

Jesus' arrival changed the hearts and minds of many (including the Jews). After hearing His words the Samaritans were convinced that Jesus was indeed the Christ and Savior of the world. Despite what most Jews may have thought, this encounter now labeled Samaritans as believers.

Regardless of any label that may have been placed upon you because of something you cannot control, actions of family members or even you own past activities, know that God is the true Judge of what's actually on the inside and He is the only ONE we have to please.

Change comes to the pure in heart and those ready to believe God and receive Jesus Christ.

Challenge:

  • Don’t believe everything you hear and only half of what you see
  • Seek revelation from the ONE who sees and understands all
  • Walk in your greatest potential in Christ Jesus
