Nothing happens by coincidence. Each encounter and every situation represents a divine appointment designed to teach, enlighten, and fulfil a specific purpose.

Some experiences teach us what to stay away from and others position us towards a guiding light. But, how do we know which is which?

A simple prayer and request for God to order our steps is sufficient.

Psalm 119: 132-134 reminds us of this, “Look upon me and be merciful to me, as Your custom is toward those who love Your name. Direct my steps by Your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me. Redeem me from the oppression of man, that I may keep Your precepts.”

By nature, we have the tendency to be drawn to the logical. Though the reasonable choice might seem to be the best option, God’s perspective is usually not logical or reasonable. His ways are as far from our ways as the east is from the west.

As we prepare our hearts and make up our minds to do the will of God, His voice will be more apparent. We must continually ask Him to order our steps, give us direction, and position people in our path who point us to His purpose in our lives, provision for our lives, and protection over our lives.

If you’re like me, you’ve messed up enough, spent your wheels enough, and tired of going nowhere. It’s time to follow God’s plan for a change.

So, Lord… order my steps.
