Plant. Water. Bloom.

· Food For Thought

I am not a plant person. I don’t have a green thumb. I’ve never gotten much pleasure in watching things grow—until now.

Last fall, I started with a small patch of pansies and didn’t realize how much I enjoyed it until the December freeze. A few days below freezing and the tiny speck of window-pleasure was gone.

Fast forward to spring, and here we go again. So far, my petunias, impatiens, island blooms, and other plants are all doing well. It seems that maybe…just maybe, I do have a green thumb after all. Live or die, I enjoy the small amount of effort that produces beauty. While the tiny effort was mine, the plan and purpose for beautiful living things belongs to God.

“But the Lord made the heavens. Honor and majesty are before Him; strength and beauty are in His sanctuary” Psalm 96:5b-6

In my mind, flowers provide a small taste of God’s beauty and blessings. This experience is a reminder that when we put forth a small amount of effort, we can reap huge benefits filled with peace and joy.

It’s kind of like faith—a little goes a long way. When watered by the Word of God, faith planted into the hearts of men bloosom into fruit of God's pleasure.

Plant. Water. Bloom. Put forth some effort and reap the blessings of the Lord.
