Potty Train

Your Brain

· Food For Thought

The body reacts to what the mind expects. The “Confident Me” seeks to reframe her thoughts around that which sheds light and love.

I’m sure you've heard clinical studies refer to using placebos. That’s when half the subjects get the real medication and the other half get the fake stuff.

It’s funny how some people’s health actually improves when they believe they’re taking something that will help, even though the remedy is not the real thing. Hence, the body reacts to what the mind expects.

When we potty train our brains, we reframe our thoughts to empower the body's responses.

Reframing our thoughts is biblical. Philippians 4:8 says this, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Potty training our brain refers to the practice of thinking thoughts that empower as opposed to thoughts that don’t. When we expect good things will come, we're more likely to encounter pleasant experiences.

I’m not trying to say that happy thoughts will eliminate bad experiences. However, a pleasant state of mind puts us in a better place to handle unpleasant situations.

Take some time to consider your thought patterns—what you think and how you think about people and situations.

The example below will give you some insight on how to reframe your thoughts:

Unframed: “I cannot deal with this situation.

Reframed: “God will give me the wisdom and strength I need to handle this situation."

Both statements acknowledge a challenging situation. The reframed statement empowers.

Reframe your thoughts to empower your body's responses. Expect great things...and you will experience great things.

Challenges will come; our frame of reference will determine how well we handle them.

Potty train your brain to think thoughts that empower.
