Pray for me

· Food For Thought

Sometime ago, I happened to see a friend I hadn’t talked to in a while. Once our eyes met, her first words were, “Girl, you just crossed my mind and I was planning to give you a call.” My response, “the next time that happens, pray for me.”

I believe God puts people on our minds for a reason. When someone comes to mind, I might not have the opportunity to call or text them at the moment, but I can always pray.

Ephesians 1:15-19 is an excellent example of a prayer for others. “Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.”

Prayer is always in order. Protection, grace, mercy, forgiveness good health, strength, blessings—all of these are great prayer requests. But in my mind wisdom is at the top of my prayer request list. Maybe it’s because we all need wisdom all the time. Every decision we make, every road we take, and every word we utter should be guided by wisdom.

Wisdom doesn’t come from obtaining degrees. Wisdom can only come from God, Himself. Wisdom is doing (or saying) the right thing at the right time for the right individual. Wisdom always sees things from God’s perspective, not our own.

When my friends and family come to mind, I remind myself to pray that God gives them the spirit of wisdom.

So, when you think about me, a call or text is good, but a prayer is even better. Pray that God gives me the spirit of wisdom.
