Prayer:

Anxiety's Remedy

· Food For Thought,Mental Health

This thing we call life, will never be free from situations and people who bring frustration and agitation. Like sand paper such experiences are meant to smooth our rough edges when we focus less on them and more on God.

The Bible has a remedy for people and things that cause us worry, uneasiness, and nervousness—it called prayer.

Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us of this, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

So, not only do we have a remedy, we also have specific details of the results of our actions when followed according to God’s plan.

We are instructed (1) not to worry about anything; (2) to pray about everything; (3) to give thanks regardless; and (4) to petition God for help.

When followed to the letter, these actions position us to receive from God and prompt Him to move on our behalf. As we focus more on God and less on the situation, something miraculous begins to happen.

Most of us expect that God will remove the situation or the people, but in His great wisdom, God allows something even more significant to occur.

When we follow God's plan, our perspective changes. The results cause God’s peace to overtake us such that we won’t be able to understand why we’re no longer worried. And He protects our hearts (the seat of our emotions, how we feel, and basis for what we do) from harm. POWERFUL!
