Precious Stones

Day #1: Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.

Precious stones—that’s how Proverb’s 31 begins its description of the virtuous woman.

Google defines virtuous as one who has or shows high moral standards. The words of King Lemuel’s mother urge him to look for a wife who possessed high moral standards.

Truth is, the human character—bases of right and wrong, good and bad—is relative. What’s good for one person may not be good for another.

Case and point, on Mother's Day, one of my Facebook friends posted this, “Dressing up on Mother’s Day is out of style.” While I haven’t posted a reply yet, my first thought was, “not for me—I’m dressed up right now".

My second thought was, “Let’s bring dressing up back in style.” Then, I thought of my parents. They dressed up for everything—going to church, appointments, even to the grocery store.

My mind wondered if this casual attitude has lead to casual thinking, actions, and approach. Dressing up causes people to feel better about themselves. When we dress up, we think different and walk different.

Maybe it’s the casual attitude that’s causing our daughters to wear bonnets, slippers, and pajamas in public. Let's vote for bringing "Dressing Up" back in style.

Day #1

Her worth is far above rubies. Let’s become living examples of virtue. Let's teach our daughers to live life based on God’s standard, not the world. Let’s teach her to dress according to their worth.
