Go for the Gold

 Pray Until Something Happens.

This month’s reference to “Going for the Gold” isn't directed towards what we can do in and of our own strength. It speaks to our willingness to develop a personal relationship with God in order to know and understand Him better allowing Him to accomplish great things through us by His strength.

Our relationship with God is cultivated and nurtured through prayer—talking to God just like we'd  speak to a close friend.

Prayer isn't a ‘give me this and give me that’ wish list. It’s not a ‘do this for me because I want you to’ game of cat and mouse.

Prayer is a spiritual experience—designed to produce an intimate relationship with the almighty God.  Prayer is intended to shift our perspective from the personal toward the Godly.

1 John 5:14-15 reminds us of this, “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”

Once our desires become God’s desires our prayers will be different—more God-centered, less self-center. Once we become focused on God’s objectives our requests will align with His agenda and then, granted according to His will.

Sincere and fervant prayers cause us to become all that God intented for us to be—more loving, more forgiving, more patient with each other and more like Him.
