The truth about Trust...

August 5, 2020

Have you ever played the blindfold game?

Standing with your eyes completely covered, you listen for the instructions of a person you can't see. Then, you follow the specific, yet basic directions of a voice that leads you step by step from one location to another—three steps forward, turn right; four steps forward, turn left; etc.

Truth is, it's kind of scary. While trying to listen carefully, in the back of your mind you're also hoping and praying that the voice doesn't lead you smack into a wall or direct you to stumble over a chair.

Trust works a lot like that game. And we should be grateful that God is different from people. He always has our best interest in mind and He will always lead us in the right direction without making a mistake.

When we exercise trust in God we will believe His words are true and put our confidence in what He says. That trust leads us to follow God’s direction even though we feel scared or have the urge to rely upon our own devices.

Proverbs, 16:20 reminds us of this:

He who heeds the word wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he.

Google defines the word heed like this, to pay attention to; take notice of.

Truth is…

That’s exactly what God wants us to do with His word—pay attention, take notice and most importantly, follow those directions.

Truth is…

We may not always agree with it or like it. But God has promised that whoever applies His words to their life will find good.

Truth is…

Trusting God doesn’t mean we will understand everything. It means just the opposite—we will follow God's direction when we don’t understand, can’t see, and don’t have a clue about what He is doing.

Challenge:

  • Read God's Word regularly
  • Heed God's Word always
  • Succeed
