Relationship Recovery

· Fabulous Friday

Fridays are FABULOUS and so is Knowing When to Let Go!

Dearly beloved, “if it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men (Rom 12:18).”

This is definitely a commission for us, especially Christians, to amend any broken relationships if at all possible.

God’s greatest commandment for His children is to LOVE! According to Matthew 22:34-39, The Lord Jesus imparted upon the Pharisees “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”

No one is perfect. Perhaps someone has said something or done something to you that rubbed you the wrong way.

It’s very important to promptly seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance in addressing the matter; and be prayerful and conscientious of your delivery. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good (Rom 12:21). Perhaps you have hurt someone or done something that caused division in your relationship. Just know that it’s imperative for you to take heed and to apologize to that sister or brother; and then repent to the Father to amend the relationship.

According to Ephesians 4:2-3, “With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

Remember, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). And, be not dismayed; once you’ve done all that you can do to recover relationships give it to the Lord and let His peace rest upon you. Acknowledge other’s decisions and respect their boundaries and give them space. Know when to let go!

  1. Love as Christ commands

  4. Forgive others
