Google the word “reside” and you will find this definition having one’s permanent home in a particular place.
Our person of the week is Mary—the mother of Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us that she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 1:18 records this, “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary wasbetrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of theHoly Spirit.”
While this is a familiar scripture, we often miss the significance. The Holy Spirit is a person. He is the presence of God and has the power to accomplish in and through us things that we will never accomplish in His absence.
As Christians, the Holy Spirit resides within us. His permanent home is within our hearts. He encourages us to seek God’s perspective giving us the ability to walk in His ways.
Just as Mary was found with child of the Holy Spirit, we are found with a real person living and growing on the inside of us. Now, we bear the responsibility of feeding Him and nurturing Him so that He will help us to grow up too.
So, Grow Up!
