Self-Talk

· Food For Thought

Question: What do you say to you, about you? That’s self-talk. We all do it—talk to ourselves about ourselves.

The “Confident Me” says things that encourage, uplift, and promote forward momentum.

The “Confident Me” challenges herself to set goals and foster changes to be a better person.

The “Confident Me” embraces her strengths and recognizes areas for improvement.

The Bible is filled with self-talk opportunities that depict God’s perception of who I am and all that He has created me to be.

The writer of Psalms 139:14 honors God by saying, “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.” Then, I say to myself, "I too am fearfully and wonderfully made".

From birth, God had a great plan for me. Even when I can’t quite put it into perspective, Jeremiah 29:11 reminds me of God’s intent, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope”.

My willingness to walk by faith and obey God allows me to experience the manifestation of His calling.

Even through Ephesians 3:20 “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” my self-talk reminds me that I do nothing of my own recognizance.

As you can see, my self-talk is framed around—not what I think about me, but—what God thinks about me.

As 2 Samuel 22:33 so elequently puts it, “God is my strength and power, and He makes my way perfect.

What God has to say about me is much more important than what I have to say about myself.

So, before I start my self-talk, I talk God-talk, which sets an amazing stage for everything else I say about me.

Talk God-talk before you self-talk
