Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

United We Stand....

February 21, 2020

Most of us are familiar with the phrase “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work.” Well, in marriage this old adage is a perfect foundation for marital simplicity. Similarly stated, the Bible asks the question, "Do two walk together unless they be agreed?" (Amos 3:3). We must stand united together in marriage else, we will fall for okeydokey.

Many years ago, as a young wife and mother, I recall a co-worker who regularly talked negatively about her husband. At first, I didn’t think very much about it until the husband arrived at the office to bring something to his wife. As soon as he introduced himself, I noticed a momentary standing up of the hairs on my neck. Later that day, I realized that her constant negative innuendoes had given me a dislike for someone that I had never met.

When we speak negatively about our spouse to others, we paint an unfavorable picture of who we are as a person. Your husband should always be represented as your “better half.” None of us are perfect. Any concerns you have about your spouse should be delivered to God in prayer not to others.

Work together with your husband to establish and build a Godly legacy that will impact the lives of your children and those around you. Though you will not always agree, set boundaries that outline how you will communicate and manage disagreements.

In an attempt to get their own way, children and other family members can sometimes drive an imaginary wedge between a husband and wife. Stay alert and on top of any intentional or unintentional attempts to divide and conqueror.

Challenge:

  • Always speak positively to others about your spouse
  • Always work together with your husband to form a united front against any obstacles
