Some of you might be familiar with the TV show, “The Haves and the Have Nots”. At first glance, the "Haves” seem to have it all, while the "Have Nots” lay victim and at the mercy of others. Often times, the "Have Nots” are taunted and taken advantage of by the "Haves”.
This isn't a new phenomenon. The Bible provides similar examples—such is the case for Hannah.
1 Samuel 1:4-5 records this, “And whenever the time came for Elkanah to make an offering, he would give portions to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and daughters. But to Hannah he would give a double portion, for he loved Hannah, although the Lord had closed her womb. And her rival also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the Lord had closed her womb."
There are some things in life we'll never figure out. Like, why bad things happen to good people or why some people receive things with litte to no effort and others struggle to aquire the same thing and may never attain it.
I won’t pretend to have the answers. But the Bible declares that God "will supply all our need according to His riches in glory”. I rest in that hope.
In Hannah’s case, she was antagonized because she could not bear children. Her agony led her to seek God’s help.
Through prayer, God has a way of either changing the situation or strengthening us to have peace through it. Hannah’s sincere prayer met God’s purpose-filled timeline. Once barren, she gave birth to a son.
When you have God, you're always the "Haves" because God has everything you need.
Seek God’s strength, knowing that He always has your best interest in mind. He will supply all your need.
