My oldest daughter is a third grade teacher. Prior to her graduating and receiving her certification, a teacher friend asked her why she wanted to teach. After a compelling conversation ending with her personal mission and concern for children the friend said this, “Those were wonderful and heart-felt words. Remember your mission and purpose because they (the children, the parents, and the administration) will try to take it away from you.”
There will always be thieves among us. Sincerity doesn’t eliminate forces dedicated to strip away our confidence, tear down our intent, and trample over our dreams.
There will always be thieves among us. They disguise themselves in familiar apparel; they know our strengths and prey on our weaknesses.
John10:10 reminds us of this, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
God doesn’t eliminate all obstacles. He desires that we press and pray our way through them. In the midst of reality, the abundant life Jesus refers to strengthens us to stand up to anything. We never stand on our own, the power of God stands for us.
There will always be thieves among us. Jesus is a giver—He gives abundant life on earth and eternal life in heaven. We must continue to encourage ourselves in the Lord and seek the life that He offers.
There will always be thieves among us. By accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and lending ourselves over to Him we can overcome any strategy to defeat God’s purpose and plan for our lives.
There will always be thieves among us. Jesus overcomes evil with good. We must allow the good in us to overshadow the evil of thieves.
