Turn Around

Don't Drown!

April 20, 2021

Last week Southeast Louisiana remained under a flash flood watch for five days in a row due to heavy rain,  thunder storms, and hail.

A common public service announcement “Turn Around…Don’t Drown” was heard on several news programs as  a reminder to drivers to avoid streets commonly known as potential flood zones.

Repentance works like that public service announcement.  "Turn Around... Don't Drown!"

The Bible reminds us of this...If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. (2 Chronicles 7:14-15 )

We must remember that forgiveness and repentance go hand in hand.

When we've done wrong or hurt others, not only should we feel bad, but our intention should change. We should turn around from those awful ways so as to not allow ourselves to become overtaking by imminent danger.

In most cases admitting guilt is difficult and asking someone to pardon us of that wrong is even more difficult.   While getting caught, admitting guilt or feeling bad may be a first approach, let's make sure that we aim to be better and do better—turn around.

Unless our intention changes, we are bound to commit the same mistakes. Our intention should be to change our ways and do things differently.

So, Turn Around...Don’t Drown!
