Walk in your own truth!?!?!

· Her Life My Example

Over the past few years society has developed “Walk in your own truth” as a buzz phrase.

My truth—this mind set scares me a lot. Why? I guess because it depends on what “your own truth” is based on. I guess because when left to our own standards and devices, we are depraved at best.

The life of Eve is an extremely good example of my concerns. Genesis 3:4-5 records a dialogue between Eve and the devil. “Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.  For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Read the Bible’s account of the conversation between Eve and the serpent (the devil) and you’ll find that Eve was aware of God’s command and so was the devil. He was and still is a mastermind of deception. Its funny how knowing this, we still fall prey to his schemes and tricks.

Truth is, Eve was deceived based on her own desires and tendencies. We are no different. We tend to want what we can’t have and justify it with the need to fulfil personal gain.

I’m scared of my own truth. I’m scared that if left to my own devices, I will fall prey to the devil’s deception and enticement to please me and not God.

Eve’s life is our example. When left to our own truth we miss out on God’s best.

Believe it or not the phenomenon, "in your own truth" is a trick from the enemy. Life your best life by taking God at His word and following His commands.
