The word 'spiritual' means different things to different people. Truth is, we will never experience spiritual development apart from the Spirit of the Developer. No matter how we frame it, spirituality is tied to eternity. The Almighty God is our Creator, our Sustainer, and the Master of all things eternal. Without God, our effort to become spiritual is futile.
Regardless, of who we are and what we have experienced, God has a great plan for our lives. The first steps to becoming all that God has planned for us begins with prayer. This prayer must acknowledge that God is Lord of all and worthy of praise. Then, we must realize that without Him, we can do nothing worthy of eternal value. The development of our spiritual being brings peace to our mind, wholeness to our heart, and joy to our soul. God is giving and forgiving and He continues to wait for us to come to Him in a spirit of repentance.
The following steps will lead us towards a personal relationship with the Father and the spiritual development needed to walk in God's purpose:
- A Relationship with the Father (John 3:16; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:9)
- Admit that you are a sinner
- Believe that Jesus Christ is God’s Son and was sent to pay the penalty for your sins
- Confess Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life
- Strengthen Your Relationship with God (Psalm 119:105; Philippians 4:6-7; Titus 3:7-8)
- Active repentances (1 John 1:8-10)
- Personal prayer, bible study, and devotion
- Congregational worship, ministry involvement and outreach
- Set Spiritual Goals (Ephesians 6:10-18; Proverb 14:1)
- Prepare yourself to become a stronger Christian
- Prepare yourself to be a Godly single woman or wife
- Make Decisions that Reflect Biblical Values (Colossians 3:16-18; 1 Corinthians 7:32-35)
- Relationships
- Sex
- Marriage
