Watch Your Step

Don't Slip and Fall

· Food For Thought

I live in walking neighborhood. Shade trees and great sidewalks make for a pleasant atmosphere for exercise and meditation. Like clock work, day or night dog-walkers and joggers can be seen following their normal routine.

For the most part, my daily walks are tranquil and non-eventful. But when it rains there's about 20 feet of the sidewalk along my route that becomes extremely muddy—slip and fall muddy.

Every time it rains I pay close attention and when I come to that section of the pavement I cross the street.

Sometimes, life is just like my walks. In many instances things are fine and good. All of a sudden rain, then a patch where you didn’t realize the eminent danger of the possible slip and fall.

Ephesians 5:15-17 reminds us of this, “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.  Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”

The Bible encourages us to walk cautiously, pay attention, be careful, look where you’re going, and avoid muddy areas.

Certain people, some desires, various decisions, and pure evil can lead to slip and fall moments.

Therefore, we must always be on the lookout for rain and hazardous conditions.

Watch your step. Shine the light on the company you keep. Be cautious of your own personal desires.  Be aware of the world's evil....and cross the street.

As long as the sun shines the dirt is dry.

But when the rain starts—here comes the mud. Don’t slip and fall.
