Rich…Poor. Black…White. PhD…GED. Democrat…Republican. Thanks to COVID-19, we’re all in the same boat, now! So, how do I process this dilemma?
I believe this season is another opportunity for those of us who call ourselves Christians, to re-evaluate our relationship with God and own up to our name. The devil doesn’t mind if we call ourselves Christians, just as long as we don’t act like Christ.
Christians should be "Christ-like" demonstrating love to all, waking in faith—not fear, living peaceably among men, while giving glory and honor to God, The Father.
As Christians, we must also realize that our faith will be tested. You see, faith is not really faith until it’s been proven to be so. Though we may not understand God’s plan, His purpose or what He allows, our response to the current events should depict confidence in God’s protection and faith in His provision.
Remember, God has called us to live lives worthy as His children and people He has chosen to be His own. As partakers in the salvation of Christ, we are also required to demonstrate love, support and encouragement for and towards each other. God desires that we live together in unity and peace.
Ephesians 4:1-6 reminds us to:
… walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
We are all on the same boat—in need of Salvation and a Savior. Let's endeavor to make a difference in the lives of our shipmates.
Challenge to the Christians aboard:
- Walk Worthy: live according to God's expectations
- Keep Unity: learn to put up with each other and show love
- Demonstrate Christ-Like behaviors
- Tell someone about your journey
