I once heard someone say that women use about 10,000 words per day as compared to men who use about 3,000 words per day.
While I’m not sure how true that is, AWOGI aims to encourage women to use their words to influence, inspire, and implore others to be their best.
As we all know, communication is extremely important. But what’s even more important than what we say, is why we say it.
My mother used to say, “If you can’t say anything good, don’t say anything at all.” And of course, I adopted that saying and repeated it for my children.
Here is another one, “When sharing information, make sure what you say is true, beneficial, AND necessary." Although something may be true, it may not be beneficial or necessary to communicate.
Both methods require careful thought, patience, and wisdom.
But even then, some conversations will be tough to have. In addition to the fact that truth can be difficult to hear, it may also be ladled with opinions instead of facts and judgement as opposed to compassion.
The Bible reminds us of this….
...let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath James 1:19
and
First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. Matthew 7:5
